Pre monsoon health care: Conducted campaigning and survey about monsoon diseases  and organic farming to the local people around the college campus

5 June 2017

World Environment Day celebrations for a week: planted saplings, conducted photography competition, rain water harvesting, short film, quiz, poem writing and essay writing competitions to students.

Green campus and Clean campus. Elayavur agriculture office Smt. Rema inaugurated the function. 6 waste bins were donated to the College by NSS

Elayavur agricultural officer Smt.Rema, principal Dr Sivadasan Thirumangalath, Dr Ajayakumar, faculty and students planted saplings in the campus.

Awareness workshop was conducted by NSS and senior citizens service council on 22 June 2017. Dr Ajayakumar K, presided over the function. Also one act play " mazhakoythu’ was enacted by Mr Modapathy Narayanan, an environmental activist.

Organized  “Speak for India’ intercollegiate debate competition  by Federal Bank and Mathrubhumi at , SN College, Kannur . Students from various colleges participated.

12 October 2017

Cancer awareness and early detection training given to nss volunteers with the collaboration of “malabar cancer care society” and “ cannanore obstrectic and gynaecological society” on 12 oct 2017. Dr Shyjus P, gynaec laproscopic surgeon of KIMST hospital trained the students. Principal Dr Sivadasan Thirumangalath, Prof Maj. Govindan, vice president of MCCS, and Dr Sajan spoke on the occasion.

Orientation programme to the new batch of  NSS volunteers was conducted  by DYSP of Tellicherry,  Mr Prince Abraham and Mr Baburaj . NSS volunteers Adarsh Dhanaraj and Sneha Muralidharan who participated in National Integration Camp at Himachal Pradesh were also  honoured.

Our four NSS secretaries Akshay Krishnan, Adarsh Dhanaraj, Nayana and Anagha attended Two Day leadership camp for Nss secretaries of Kannur university at sir syed college, Taliparamba.. Hon. Vice Chancellor of Kannur University Dr Gopinath Ravindran distributed the certificates to our volunteers Adarsh Dhanaraj and Sneha Muralidharan who attended National Integration Camp at Himachal Pradesh.

 7 Day NSS residential Camp for NSS volunteers at S A U P School, Thirunelli, Wyanad.

The Highlights are:

  • Awareness Class about snakes and wild life by Basheer Meppady, Wyanad
  • Cleaning of " Nakshathrathottam" at Govt. Guest House, Thirunelli Forest Division
  • Daily Physical Fitness Training: Brisk walking, Zumba Dance, Football etc
  • Interaction of Ayurvedic healer and Tribal of Thirunelli , Jochi Chechi with  our volunteers about herbal medicines and created an awareness about the importance of conserving the forests
  • Christmas Carol and Celebrations at Thirunelli
  • For Cyber Crime Awareness Class by S I of Thirunelli, Biju Antony
  • Understanding the Flora & Fauna of the  Thirunelli forests
  • Visit to Tribal Colonies and conducting socio economic survey
  • Preparing plot for vegetable garden in S A UP School, Thirunelli
  • Donated books to set up Library S A UP School, Thirunelli
  • Various cultural activities, Debates etc , by volunteers

Republic Day celebrations:

Principal Dr sivadasan thirumangalath and Mr Balachandran of All India Radio addressed the students. NSS volunteers also helped the “SN Mates”  , Alumni association of our college in the conduct of their yearly reunion programme. Our volunteers Adarsh Dhanraj, Sneha muralidharan was honored by college alumni SN mates. Distributed sweets to the students.

2017-18

Organic Farming:

The Organic farming in the campus was a great success. The Farming venture was with the support of the Agricultural Department of Kerala. The students could learn a lot. They acquired knowledge about various techniques of organic farming, importance of food production and preservation of ecosystem.

  • Training was given to NSS volunteers on organic vegetable gardening by Elayavur  Agriultural officer Ms Rema K T at S N College on 5th August 2017
  • First step to organic farming. Instructions were given by agriculturist Mr. KrishnaDas on farming. Grow bags were  filled by our volunteers on 12. 8 .17
  • Ploughing the land with tractor. Second step for farming started on 19 th august
  • Official inauguration of vegetable farming at our college was on 4 th October 2017 by Kannur Corporation Mayor. Kum E P Latha. College Principal Dr Sivadasan thirumangalath, DSS of kannur university sri. Padmanabhan kavumbayi, Agricultural asst Dir. smt Savithri, agrcl officer Smt. KT Rema, Dr Ajayakumar, and  Dr Sajan N were present.
  • First harvesting of Amaranthus(green and red)  and Auction sale  on 23 October 2017 was a big success. Asst director of agriculture Smt. Padmam, Smt K T Rema , principal Dr Sivadasan Thirumangalath, Dr sajan N , staff and students were present on the occasion.
  • Second harvesting of Amaranthus(green and red) done on 10.11.17
  • Third harvesting and auction sale of tomatoes, brinjals and chillies on 22 Nov 2017.  Mr Suresh of Elayavur agricultural dept., inaugurated the harvesting. Dr sajan and the staff of our college actively participated.
  • Fourth harvesting of tomatoes, brinjals, chillies and cucumber on 29th November 2017..
  • Fifth harvesting of tomatoes, chilies, brinjal and cucumber on 8.12.17. Staff and students actively participated in the auction sale.
  • Final harvesting of Tomatoes, Cabbages, Melon, Ladies finger and chillies on 27.1.18. Cleared the grow bags and manured  the plants for starting second phase of farming
