The Department of Zoology is one of the oldestand leading departments under Kannur University..The first Head of the Department had given enlightening leadership to the department which had brought in conspicuous and illustrious achievements in the academic ambience of the department. This Department has established its identity in the frontier areas of life sciences and it has developed into full fledged center of teaching and research in modern biology. The scientific merit of the faculty has been recognized through awards and Fellowships of International and National Academies. Presently, the department is well equipped with diverse faculties, ranging from classical zoology to the modern biological sciences and makes every possible effort to impart value added teaching and research guidance to students.
The department promote the discovery and broad knowledge about the biology of animals, evolution and their environments. The holistic development of the student and make them able to contribute effectively for their welfare and society in this dynamic era.
