The IQAC of Sree Narayana College, Kannur, organized the college-level selection for the Maria Philip Future Leaders Debate Competition (MPFLDC) - 2024 on 18th November 2024 in the Seminar Hall at 11:30 AM. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 21 students across various departments.
The competition was inaugurated by the College Principal in Charge, Dr. C.P. Satheesh, who emphasized the importance of debate in fostering critical thinking and leadership skills. The IQAC Coordinator, Dr. K.P. Prasanth, and Assistant Professors of the English Department, Ms. Hredya and Ms. Nimisha, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the relevance of the topic and encouraging students to engage in meaningful discussions.
The debate on the topic "AI and Automation Will Lead to Mass Unemployment" was intellectually stimulating, with participants presenting well-reasoned arguments both in favor of and against the motion. The panel of judges evaluated the participants on various criteria, including content, delivery, and rebuttal skills.
The event concluded successfully, with the selected students set to represent the college in the next stage of the MPFLDC competition. This initiative once again showcased the debating talent and intellectual curiosity of the students, aligning with the college’s vision of nurturing future leaders.
