The Department of Microbiology, Sree Narayana College, Kannur, observed World AIDS Day with an awareness programme aimed at educating students about HIV/AIDS, its prevention, and the importance of eliminating stigma. The event highlighted the global theme and emphasized the collective responsibility in supporting individuals affected by HIV.

The programme began with an introductory session by faculty members, focusing on the scientific aspects of HIV infection, modes of transmission, preventive strategies, and recent advancements in treatment. Students actively participated in discussions that reinforced the importance of awareness, early detection, and compassionate support.

As a symbolic gesture of solidarity, students and staff wore red ribbons, representing their support for people living with HIV/AIDS and their commitment to spreading awareness within the community.

The observance helped foster a deeper understanding among students and strengthened the department’s initiative to promote public health awareness.
